㋡ Physical Examination

According to the 2017 national annual health report of Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), lung cancer was still in the leading cause of death in cancer category. Five- years survival rate was limited to 13-15%. The main reason for this low survival rate was lack of early detection and early diagnosis. As known, early detection at the stage one lung cancer was noted with higher 5-years survival rate of above 60%. The application of rapid multi-slicing computerized tomography (CT) was popularized in the screening of the early stage of lung cancer.
PTCH introduced a 384 cut high resolution CT with the following advantages: 1. the examinee just hold one’s breath with 10 seconds for the completion of the scanning; 2. Very low radiation exposure: the total radiation exposure for LDCCT with only 1 milli-Sievert (mSv) is much lower than the background radiation of Taiwan with 1.6 mSv; 3. Safe and convenience: No pre-examination preparation, no contrast required, non-invasive procedure.
LDCCT is found with much in accuracy than MRI and PET in the early detection of lung cancer. Once the suspected lesion is detected, LDCCT is then utilized as a crucial tool in the follow up of the suspected lesion or early stage of cancer. Every 3 month for the follow up with continuation of 2 years period is suggested. If found with lesion size increasing, then surgical intervention or biopsy is recommended.
This LDCCT with higher accuracy and reliability in the early detection and screening of lung cancer than MRI and PET.
Those candidates are noted with high risks for lung cancer is recommended for LDCCT
